Yesterday, Rebecca Brooks from Animoto (a free video creation service) sent me an email informing me of a new service, Animoto for Education. I’ve written about Animoto in the past and actually did a side by side comparison of Animoto and Photostory back in May. You can read the side by side comparison here.

In a nutshell, Animoto is a free video creation service. Users select or upload images to their account then users select from a list of royalty-free music or upload their own audio tracks, Animoto mixes the music and images to create a professional looking video in minutes. If users don’t like the video they can remix the video using the same images and audio until they get something with which they’re satisfied. Animoto is a great way for students to quickly create a great looking presentation without the teacher having to spend a lot of time teaching students how to edit or manipulate presentation software.

This is a video I created when I first learned about Animoto in May. This video took me less than five minutes to create.

Applications for Education
Animoto for Education offers teachers and students some benefits that normal Animoto users don’t have. Animoto for Education will give teachers and their students unlimited videos. Teachers will be able to establish group accounts through which they can monitor each of their student’s activities. Videos created using Animoto for Education can only be seen by the users of the creative account unless the teacher or student decides to embed or link to the video on another website.
