Mapping Wikipedia is an interesting attempt to organize Wikipedia articles and images by location. Mapping Wikipedia allows you to search for articles according to language, location (by continent, region, or country), and the number of articles and images associated with the language and location you have specified in your search. It’s a good way to discover information about a place. My only complaint is that they color scheme used on Mapping Wikipedia makes it difficult to see some elements of the map.
Applications for Education
Mapping Wikipedia could be a helpful resource when students want to research a country, but don’t quite know how to get started. Selecting a language and country in the Mapping Wikipedia search engine will lead them to many articles related to that country. Those articles could get students started on a path toward further research.
