Upload Your Own PDFs and EPUBs to Google Play Books

This post was updated on December 4, 2014 to reflect the change to Google Play Books for iPad.

This evening Google announced a great update to Google Play Books. You can now upload your own PDFs and EPUB files to Google Play Books. Upload your files and you can read them on your iPad or Android device with the Google Play Books app (click here for iOS app, click here for Android app). When you upload your files you will be able to bookmark, highlight, and the dictionary tools just like you can with any other book in the Google Books app. Directions for uploading files to Google Play Books are included below.

Applications for Education
Students could use the new upload option to add study guides and notes to Google Play Books to take them anywhere in a digital format.

If you’re looking for a tool to create EPUB documents, I recommend taking a look at dotEPUB.
