When I taught a contemporary world studies course for high school freshmen, the Israeli – Palestinian conflicts was one of more difficult topics for students to understand. One of the things that did help my students to understand the conflict was to have a geographic context of the conflicts. Here are a few resources that might help students understand the current fighting in the Gaza Strip.
The Google Earth Blog has posted a KML file that overlays a UN situation map over the Gaza Strip. You can access the file here.
The BBC has posted a number of good resources that are accessible to high school students. One of the better resources is a map that is connected to a timeline of the current fighting in the Gaza Strip. You can find that map here.
The NY Times has posted maps, articles, and mp3 recordings about the current fighting in the Gaza Strip. You can access those resources here and here.
